ELC’s Land Acknowledgement
Edmonds Lutheran Church gratefully acknowledges that we gather on the ancestral homeland and waterways of the Lushootseed-speaking Coast Salish Peoples who have stewarded this land since time immemorial. Their strong and long-held ethic of respect for and preservation of land, waterways, and wildlife endures. As we seek to understand our place in the history of this land and its people, we commit to truth- telling, lest we forget on whose land we gather and worship; we commit to the ongoing care of this sacred land; and with honor and respect for our Indigenous contemporaries, their ancestors, and their descendants, we commit to the ongoing work of healing, reconciliation and strengthening relationships with our Coast Salish neighbors.
ELC’s Statement of Welcome
Edmonds Lutheran Church is a community grounded in God’s boundless love and radical welcome. We believe every person is a beloved child of God, created in God’s image and embraced by grace.
We invite, welcome, and affirm the sacredness of all people. This includes people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions, as well as people of every race and ethnicity, age, ability, family structure, economic circumstance, and life experience. We are committed to racial equity and to living out inclusion, social and economic justice, an environmental care.
We affirm the sacredness of those whose stories include addiction, physical or mental health differences, incarceration, or circumstances that too often divide us. Every person is a unique creation, worthy of dignity, belonging, and joy.
You are invited and welcome here. We hope that you will engage in the community in ways that feel right for you. Wherever you are on your faith journey, whether curious, committed, questioning, or returning, you are invited into this sacred space of belonging.
Together, we worship serve, learn, and care for one another trusting that the Holy Spirit is moving among us and drawing us toward love, justice, and hope.
